The Escort

a Sonny & Brenda story

Chapter 2

When the pager went off, Brenda heart almost stopped beating. She read the text message:

"Be ready at 7:45. VERY important client. Dress nice. Sylvia."

Brenda looked at her closet. She hadn't gone out and shopped like Sylvia wanted, but she figured she could find something suitable to wear. She pulled out a short, sparkly, silver dress. "This'll do," she mumbled, figuring it wouldn't much matter, since it'd probably be taken off her in no time. She threw the dress on her bed, and head for the shower. While showering, she tried to psych herself up. "You have to do this, so don't think about it. Hey, maybe he won't be too bad. Maybe he'll be nice. Sure, you never even kissed on the first date before, but…" Her self-pep talk wasn't doing much good. She felt even worse than before, if that was possible. After the shower, and styling her hair, she applied some makeup. It was hard to cover up the dark circles under her eyes, or the swollenness of their lids. She was only eighteen, but she felt fifty at that moment.

At Harborview Towers, Sonny had showered and dressed as well. He looked at himself in the mirror, and couldn't help but smile. One thing he never had a problem with was looking good. Going downstairs, he checked the champagne he had put on ice earlier, and popped a jazz cd into the player. Joseph knocked and entered. "She'll be here soon. I just spoke to her guard." "About that," Sonny said, "they wait in the lobby, remember?" Joseph let out a sigh. Every time one of Sylvia's girls came over he had to fight with their bodyguard about waiting downstairs. "Is that a problem, Joseph?" Sonny asked in a tone that indicated it better not be a problem. "My problem, sir," Joseph replied; "not yours." "Just remind them who lets them operate in this town," Sonny snapped. "Yes sir."

Brenda sat in the back of the dark sedan, and closed her eyes. Tony, her very large guard and driver, looked at her in the rear-view mirror. "Don't worry little miss; Tony'll take good care of you." Brenda opened her eyes and gave him a weak smile. "Thanks. Do you know anything about this guy?" "Shit, everybody knows about this guy. He's the baddest dude in this town…in a lot of towns." "What…what does that mean?" "It means he's important. But from what I've seen and heard, he's cool…so don't worry." Brenda felt like throwing up. "He's bad; he's cool…what the hell doesn't that mean?" she wondered. She was about to find out.

Tony and Brenda stepped off the elevator, and were greeted by Joseph. Tony nodded at him, and Joseph nodded back, and said, "wait downstairs buddy." Tony knew Brenda would be upset, but also knew he had to do what Sonny Corinthos' guard wanted. Brenda looked at Tony; "I thought you'd be right here?" Tony smiled at her, "it's OK little miss. You're in good hands." He walked back to the elevator, which opened right up for him…and vanished. Brenda tried not to panic. Joseph looked her over. There was no way she had a weapon hidden under the dress she was wearing. It clung too tightly to her body. Joseph tried to keep his mind on business. "I need to look in your purse miss." Brenda turned and looked at him. "Why?" "Because I do." Brenda handed it to him, and Joseph saw her hand shaking. He felt badly for her, but knew the boss was nothing if not a gentleman. He quickly looked through her bag, and then returned it to her. He knocked on the door, and when he heard Sonny's voice, he opened it. "The lady is here, boss." "Show her in," Sonny replied, standing. Joseph held the door open for Brenda, who walked in with a good deal of trepidation. Joseph closed the door behind her. Brenda looked at the man coming towards her, and started shaking all over again. Sonny stared at her as he approached. He couldn't believe his eyes.
